A group portrait of men from Landsturm Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 'Leipzig' (XIX 6). Two items of note are (i) The fellow wearing the M1916 stahlhelm and (ii) the fellow seated at the far right wearing a tunic with Brandenberg cuffs. Everyone knows that troops from Saxony wore Saxon cuffs!

According to the Hartwig Busche manuscript, these men were responsible for guarding French POW and civilian worker battalions:

"Das Bataillon stellte die Bewachungstruppe der Kriegsgefeangenen-Arbeiter-Bataillone Nr. 96 und 97. Die 8. Kp. war Bewachungstruppe des Zivilarbeiter-Bataillons Nr. 27 und des Franzosen-Kdos. XXVII, die 9. Kp. war Bewachungstruppe des Zivilarbeiter-Bataillons Nr. 28 und des Franzosen-Kdos. XXV. (5. Armee)."
