This race of the Splendid Fairy-wren is really quite tough to photograph. They rarely break cover, preferring to sing from behind a tangle of sticks. I only managed to get a couple of frames of this bird out in the open. This is the best one.

This species has been a bogey bird for me for ages. I've seen them heaps of times, but I've never been able to get descent shots.

We saw Splendid and Variegated Fairy-wrens in good numbers in central Australia, but I didn't get any shots of them.

These guys have pretty loud voices when they get going.

This will be my last shot from central Australia for a bit.
