March Point. Padilla Bay. Royal Dutch Shell said a catalytic reformer unit at is Puget Sound refinery in Anacortes, Wash., was shut Saturday when a fire broke out during the process of shutting down an associated heater for repairs.
A pinhole leak was identified in the CRU heater at around 9:15 a.m. PDT Saturday.
During the process of isolating and shutting down the heater, some hydrocarbon caught on fire. Emergency response personnel were immediately called out and the proper regulatory authorities were notified. The fire was contained and the all clear was given at 10:45 a.m.
