The project involves assembling four large diesel storage tanks, associated pumps, piping and controls on three separate modules. The work in Anacortes is slated to be completed in June of 2013 in time for a schedule sea-lift to Alaska. Point Thomson, which lies near the western edge of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, 60 miles east of Prudhoe Bay, is the world’s highest-pressure gas cycling project. It holds an estimated 8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas – about 25 percent of the North Slope’s proven gas resources – and about 200 million barrels of condensate. Cycling is a process of producing natural gas, stripping out the condensate liquids, re-pressuring the gas and then re-injecting it back into the reservoir. It’s never been done before with temperatures and pressures as extreme as they are at Point Thomson."
