El Tronador is geologically active volcano, but unlikely to erupt. Your last activity is unknown but it is estimated that occurred 10,000 years ago.
It is on the border between Chile and Argentina, near the town of San Carlos de Bariloche.
It has 3554 meters high, and its name is due to the noise produced by avalanches, especially in its seven glaciers, which resembles thunder.

Lake Mascardi is a beautiful lake inside of the Park Nahuel Huapi, with green and turquoise waters, and surrounded by wonderful mountains, most of them covered by snow in this time of the year.
In the middle of the lake a little island named by the indians "Isla Corazón" ( Heart Island).
The shape is only visible from the high mountains around the lake.
So, I only have to believe...

I want to thank my dear Flickr friends for all the advice and best wishes when I decided to seek the true winter in my little trip.
Many have asked if found snow. Yes, I found and is even more beautiful than I thought!
Unfortunately, due to global warming, Bariloche usually doesn't have more snow in the city. I had to go to the mountains to have that contact. But I loved every minute.
Patagonia is really a paradisiacal place.
Sudden changes in temperature and weather conditions did not allow me to do the pictures I thought. But I share with you in the coming days, which I was able to register.

At the foot of the volcano El Tronador one of the much visited attractions is the black glacier, which we see here a great distance since it is surrounded by a frozen lake at this time.
The glacier is dark because of the volcanic sediments that usually mixes up to the ice in the formation of the glacier.
It used to be much larger than we see here, but global warming has proved relentless...
