I recently returned from my vacation in Alberta where I had opportunity to travel through Banff and Jasper National Parks.
This image was taken along the Trans Canada Highway on route from Jasper to Banff. This section of Highway between Banff and Jasper is noted to be one of the top ten drives...and it was!!
Jasper National Park, established in 1907, is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies with 10,878 square kilometres of mountain wilderness.

This is the Trans Canada Highway heading from Jasper, Alberta toward Banff. I don't know if I was actually in Jasper or Banff National Park at this point.
This is Mount Sarbach (from the Icefields Parkway in Banff)...thank you to www.flickr.com/photos/dngallphoto/ for the information!

This was taken along the Trans Canada Highway travelling from Jasper to Banff, Alberta. This was taken on May 12, 2010...and the moutains were still snow covered and some of the lakes still frozen over. It was 20 C (around 70 F) in Jasper that day! This Highway is listed as one of the most beautiful drives...and I can attest to that!!
I am not sure of the names of all the mountains in my various images or if I was in Jasper or Banff National Park at this point along the Highway. I welcome any feedback regarding names from any of my flickr contacts. Thank you.
According to www.flickr.com/photos/dngallphoto/ this may be Mount Patterson from one of the Waterfowl Lakes in Banff. Thank you again for the information.
This is a three exposure HDR image (+/-1).

Athabasca Falls are located in Jasper National Park approximately 30 kilometers south of Jasper, Alberta.
The headwater comes from the Columbia Glacier about 70 kilometers south. The 23-metre Athabasca Falls is not very high by Canadian Rockies standards, but the size of the river makes it one of the most powerful falls to be found in the mountain national parks.
