Grotto Falls off Trillium Gap Trail in Smoky Mountains, Tennessee.

I am currently on a road trip which started in Gatlinburg area of Smoky Mountains. After three days of exploring, hiking and some photography, we headed down the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway today. Such gorgeous beauty in both of these areas!

I don't normally post self portraits and especially ones that are not all that flattering...lol, but I just returned from this year's road trip and I wanted to give you a sense of my adventures. This was taken by my girlfriend with her Canon point and shoot. I had climbed into a river bed where I found a small sandbar to take a low down image. By the way, travel pillows make great tripod for the camera on the rocks. Live view on the D800 really helped here too. Here I am eyeing up the situation and setting up so as to keep my precious camera secure!!

This was taken on the Alum Cove Trail in Smoky Mountain Park in Tennessee. This was an amazing park and fabulous trail. This was almost near the end of our short hike which took about 4 hours. The second half of the trail is a bit more strenuous and I was feeling a bit weary by this point. Loved my new Lowepro back pack which weighed about 15 lbs with all my gear!!

Alum Cove Trail is one of the hikes that will take you to Mount LeConte. This day we went as far as the bluffs. We are definitely thinking of doing the Mountain...need to prepare a bit more for that!!

My Road trip was 11 days and took us to Gatlinburg area in Tennessee, down the Blue Ridge Parkway to North Carolina with a stop over on Pisgah Mountain, off to Ashville and the Biltmore estate and then back to Tennessee before heading home. It was an amazing time and definitely will be back to explore more of this great area!!
