This is Paulina Falls in Oregon, part of the 54,822-acre Newberry Volcanic Monument area. It was a very chilly day when we explored this area. I took this shot from an overlook, but afterwards, we ventured down a steep and snow covered trail so I could shoot both waterfalls. I'll post that image at a later date.

I posted a photo of Paulina Falls a couple of weeks ago from our time in Oregon. It only showed one of the falls, that I took from an overlook. Here are both the falls. We had to walk down a dangerous switch back trail covered with slippery bits of hard snow to get to this point, my sherpa carrying my gear :) No accidents or injuries, which was good :)

Zoom in and take a look around....

28:52 Long exposure

I've been wanting to learn how to do long exposures for a long time, and this is my first attempt at it. Taken at Cameron Falls in Waterton Park, Alberta.

I'm sorry, but I am not able to comment at this time...I've been sick for awhile and am still not well enough to be at the computer for long. As soon as I can, I'll be back and enjoying your wonderful images.

It has been raining so much that Mosquito Creek, in the forest five minutes from our place, is like a fast flowing river right now. It pretty much runs dry in the summer. But this isn't the creek...this was on the trail.

Between the downpours, I went for a walk through the forest and this little waterfall had formed right beside the muddy trail. I had no tripod so sat my camera on a rock for this low shot. My hiking boots were covered with mud when I got home. And the rain continues....

Can't really complain. I just wish I could send some of this rain to our Australian friends.

(Best not to zoom in - my focus was somewhat off - I think only the moss in the top right is crisp)

I went to Shannon Falls the other day hoping to get some wonderful waterfall shots. Unfortunately, the sun was blazing and in most places, the water was, well, overexposed. The actual waterfall falls from a height of 335m or just over 1,000 ft. Then it continues on downward and into the roaring creek. I scrambled down the rocks to try to get a shady spot along the creek, which were very small areas, and realized I'll have to go there again on a cloudy day. This was the most I could get, and even here, you can see that there is too much direct sunlight. And I think I'll have to wear hip waders or something so I can shoot from the water, instead of off to one side.

I haven't been on Flickr for a few days, so will try to catch up with your images from today.

Happy Weekend!
