Nature is not a place to visit, it is home.
~ Gary Snyder

I took this at Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver. I wanted to do a longer ICM, so added a 6 stop ND filter, and kept the focus on the woman for 4 seconds or so, before moving the camera in either direction.

There is something seriously wrong with my activity feed. I can only see one person's images that they've posted in the past few months, and nothing else. Anyone else have that problem?

A few days ago, I looked out the window and it was dark, dismal, windy and pouring rain, again. So why not head out with the camera? It had been awhile, and I had all the gear. So I drove to West Vancouver - Dundarave, to the beach. It was 5C and windy, so I'm guessing colder with wind chill.

I got out my camera rain coat (I already had mine on), and for some reason, forgot how to dress my camera. I must be losing it, because I put the clear plastic window in front of the lens, instead of at the back of the camera so I could see what I was doing. I looked through the lens to take a shot, and it looked like the lens was covered with raindrops, but of course, it was the plastic front of the raincoat. Somehow my brain went into a tailspin and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Duh! So I took the raincoat off and tried to keep my camera as close to me as possible.
I was happy to capture this pier though, in all that rain and grey skies. It was very refreshing :)

I wasn't out long - didn't want my camera to die from a soaking, and I was freezing cold.

Some of you have been asking if I've used the Valleret gloves yet. Yes, I did and brought them along. They are very well made and the thumb and fingertips slip off easily to use on the camera buttons. I'm sure they would keep many peoples' hands warm. But, as I've had Reynauds since I was a teenager, they, unfortunately, don't keep my hands warm, even for 10 minutes. I still would recommend them.

I've been off Flickr more than on lately - have so much going on, it is kind of all a blur :)

This was taken at Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver. Some camera flinging using a 6stop ND filter.

Happy Friday!

I was going to go shoot waterfalls with a friend the other day, but it was pouring rain and windy, so we postponed. I decided to go to the beach alone in the rain anyway, as I enjoy shooting in the rain, as long as my gear stays reasonably dry. I haven't been here for months, and it was so refreshing. It had been a very high tide the evening before so a lot of logs were washed up to shore. The two colourful umbrellas really caught my attention and was so happy to be able to capture the colour on a grey day. Happy Friday!

I don't know what kind of plant this is, but it reminded me of a long ago game called Jacks. Anyone remember that game? :)

Taken with Helios 44-2 f2 and Kenko extension tube.
