Macro image of the yellow aethelia of a slime mold commonly known as scrambled egg slime and dog vomit slime. This is the bright yellow, active, growing phase.
Scrambled egg and other slime molds are saprophytic, feeding on decaying organic matter. Most often found in moist, shady areas and on materials such as mulch, rotting logs and leaf litter. Usually showing up after warm, wet periods.
Area of mold measured 33 x 21 cm.
