Sunrise doesn't get any better than this at Halong Bay. The area is well known for overcast skies and rainfall, which often gives it a dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere. This drone shot was taken about 6 days after Super Typhoon Yagi made landfall in north Vietnam on Sept 7, 2024, and Ha Long Bay was directly in its path of destruction. The government cancelled all cruises for several days afterwards and we were lucky enough to be among the first boats allowed out on the bay after it was reopened for tourists. The landscape at Halong Bay is so expansive that it is best appreciated by a long frame rather than a tall one, so I've left it in the original 16:9 aspect ratio from my drone.
