Loweswater Fells and Crummock Water, the path leads into Rannerdale where in the twelfth century Norman troops came to a sticky end when confronted by the local Norse/Cumbrian militia.
Local folk lore that has given rise to two popular works of fiction, my preference is for Rosemary Sutcliffe's, The Shield Ring.

Lots of atmospheric energy with a sudden input of heat after days of cold wet weather and a gusty wind, so not surprised to see a lenticularis cloud forming over the Loweswater Fells.
