Usually I am excited at the sight of a wild animal, and here I was within a few feet of a top predator. It even looked at me as if it wanted a conversation. I was saddened that this graceful swimmer would resort to begging next to the quay. I told it to leave the oily waters of the harbour and go out into the North Sea, where hopefully the water is a bit cleaner. There were three seals in the dock at the time.
