The Goodwood Orphanage, then known as St Vincent de Paul's Orphanage, was established in 1888 and remained in operation as an orphanage until December 1975.
In 1888 the Catholic Church purchased the property from the estate of the late W.D. Hewer for £3,500.
The Goodwood Orphanage typically housed between 100 and 120 children.
In 1976 the Orphanage was purchased by the State Government and leased to the Education Department.
Later, Tabor College purchased the allotment with the buildings.
