In 1858, my great-great-grandfather Eli King brought his family to live in a house they built in the style of a crofter's cottage, of boulders carted by horse and wooden sledge from the beach. By 1920s the house was a ruin.

It has subsequently been rebuilt and is visible above Kings beach.
