Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York (later King George V and Queen Mary) visited South Australia in July 1901.
Register, Tuesday 16 July 1901:
"Just before 1 o'clock the royal train arrived at the temporary platform opposite to the royal yacht Ophir, at No. 1 quay. On the dais, at the end of the canopied passage, the mayor and councillors were waiting to meet the royal party. The guard of honour was formed by men from the naval reserve and children from the Port, Alberton, Glanville, and Lefevre's Peninsula schools were drawn up in the enclosure."
