In 1883 the new Rectory for St John's was completed at a final cost of £1500. It is a substantial two-storey Victorian house with a fine balcony spanning the main façade which faces St John Street.

Dating from 1891-92, St Corantyn is a significant and well preserved example of the work of architect George Klewitz Soward. It was built for Soward’s daughter Eliza and son-in-law Charles Hornabrook who was the licencee of the York Hotel.
