Corner of Gouger Street and Bailey Streets, Adelaide.

Established as the Angel Inn in 1839, Gouger in 1947, Fantasia 1974, Winston 1982, Gouger 1984 and the Directors in 1990.

It is currently closed and boarded up.

My great-great-great aunt and uncle, Mary and John Bailey were the first owners of the Angel Inn. The South Australian Gazette and Colonial Register of Saturday 23 March 1839, records that John Bailey held a General Publican's Licence for The Angel Inn, Gouger Street.

The family lent their name to Bailey Street which runs alongside the hotel.

Built in 1839, The Whitmore Hotel was a working class pub, and in recent times was a strip club, and later a gay and lesbian venue.

Recently given a massive facelift.

Renamed Sparkke at the Whitmore
