Originally built around 1912 as a summer residence for Mr & Mrs Frederick Scarfe (of Harris Scarfe & Co. Ltd) at 451 Esplanade, the house is an example of the work of young architect E Kenneth Milne, who also designed the Adelaide Oval scoreboard.
