'The Marines', a block of terrace residences prominently sited on the Esplanade at Grange, is closely associated with the early development of the seaside suburbs of Henley and Grange, having been built for the Grange Land and Investment Company, which was responsible for much of the early development of the area. Although only eight of the proposed 24 residences were built, the terrace is architecturally imposing, having been designed in the grand style of similar buildings at English seaside resorts such as Brighton. They are significant in being some of the few remaining three-storeyed terrace houses in South Australia.
