I got a heads up from Kevin Burkholder that VTR 431 had been shipped to Europe for testing on the Gotthard Pass line. Thankfully Donald Trump let me use his private jet to fly to Switzerland just in time to get 431 coming down the south ramp at Biasca.

In a scene similar to what I witnessed in Peru two railroaders spin a M6 class loco around at Kandy. Despite most engines being bidirectional in Sri Lanka they are usually turned when possible to face short hood first, this one has just arrived on the Colombo to Kandy intercity which is being pushed into the staging yard in the background. A M7 class (Brush built, GM powered 4 axle) is running around its train to make another trip to Matale. There is no turntable at Matale so turning the loco is a moot point for branchline trains.

NS 955 slowly crosses the Toccoa viaduct for a impromptu company photoshoot on its way from Greenville to Atlanta. It was well worth the hour of hacking down trees and death hike back up to finally shoot something good here.

Matching power and all is nice but in this boring modern world its a treat to see traces of more interesting times. CNW 4556 passes a rare D&H grain hopper as it rumbles north with a mile of storage cars in tow. We are on the Hartwell Railroads former Southern at Bowman as evidenced by the whistlepost.
