Sarah Ward / 658 items
A composite of the mass formation of RAF helicopters when the Army - 7th Regiment tasked the RAF to move their large guns to a new location during a live-fire exercise on Salisbury Plain.

The formation was in 2 groups:

Chinooks from RAF Odiham, callsign 'Pegasus'
Pumas from RAF Benson, callsign 'Ambush'

They flew from a grass strip within the SPTA to D125 near Westdown Camp and moved the heavy guns to a new firing location in D128.

Salisbury Plain is the main English training and exercise area for the British military forces. It is known as the SPTA.
