The stinkhorn grows from an 'egg' in hours. The green mucus holds the spores smells like sewerage. This attracts flies which quickly remove the mucus and spread it around. This photo catches that elusive period when the green gunge is being eaten by flies.

Stag's Horn Fungus (Calocera viscosa) grows on dead and usually buried wood or branches. It has several stalks on each growth with stag-horn splits at the top.

White Saddle Fungus (Helvella crispa) is a disformed toadstood-like fungis all white or light grey. there are other similar fungi but are different in colour. This example was seen on a a road-edge bordering woodland.
