At the foot of the Spanish lies the Fontano della ,Barcaccia , a Baroque fountain and design by Pietro Bernini and his son Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1626, shaped like a sinking boat , it commemorate a historic flood of Tiber River that left a boat stranded in this area . The fountain is both a functional water source and a work of art
