A rainy morning photographing the swamps of southern US. Photographing these swamps is turning out to be a lot harder than I thought, all the shots are taken hand held from a kayak so I have been shooting at iso's upto 2000 so i can get a fast enough shutter speed to negate the movement of the boat.

Early morning sunlight bursting through the trees in the swamps. To get to here we had to kayak in the dark for about 25 minutes along the bayou to reach it, along the bayou there was a number of shacks some lived in and some looked abandoned with barking dogs outside, I just kept thinking about the film Southern Comfort.

Great egret hunting for lunch in the swamp, there was lots of these birds feeding but were tricky to capture, as soon as they spotted the kayak they would fly off 50ft away so it was a constant game of cat and mouse trying to sneak up close enough to one.

Early morning in the swamps, photographing in the morning turned out to be a bit tricky, shooting from the kayak meant that the shutter speed needed to be higher than you would normally use at this time of day which meant using something like iso 2000 to get a sufficient shutter speed to negate the motion blur.
