"ANTING" This GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER has assumed this odd posture because she's engaged in a practice called "Anting". Basically the bird turns broadside, perpendicular, to to the sun to allow maximum light penetration and holds that pose for a few minutes to kill or drive out mites.
