Red Frangipani (with 5 spreading petals), also called Hawaii Frangipani, is found in the Plumeria genus: of 7-8 species. It's apparently quite rare. But, as it gets closer to the equator, the more colourful it gets in loads of tropical and sunset colours (much like the colourful tropical sunrises I posted a little while ago).
I photographed 'Plumeria Rubra' at the Perdana Botanical Gardens of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), during my walk around the gardens (see also 2 shots back).
It immediately attracted my attention in the orchid section of the gardens, which has quite a few flowers that are not orchids; in a very interesting tropical style of presentation.
Finally, according to Cunningham's Encyclopaedia of Magical Herbs (1984), frangipani (plumeria) associates with the feminine, is ruled by Venus, its deity is Buddha, its element is water, its power is love, and its magical uses are in love spells.
