A very productive visit to Ivinghoe Beacon. Many Dukes had just emerged and it was one of the best visits I recall for the numbers of most of the resident butterflies.

A day for seeing purple. 4 Lesser Purple Emperors seen - two photographed. One the orange (Clytie) form even sat on my finer for a while. Mostly seen around Tremolat. In 33 degrees we all needed to find some fluids.

Day 5 in Croatia (June 8th) a Swallowtail on a lavender bush in a garden just near to our lunch stop.

Butterflies from France in August 2017. Mostly in or around Limeuil, Dordogne.
A lovely large butterfly, but they are always damaged as they dive into brambles and thorns. Still the blue eyespots are wonderful.
