The Ca d'Oro originally build in the 1420's was bought in 1694 by baron Giorgio Franchetti to house his art collection.
He personally designed this cosmatesque marble floor in the 'portego'.

Partially built by baron Franchetti, the Gothic monumental stairway was perhaps covered, constituted the main stairway to the rooms on the first floor.

The courtyard is still covered with bricks in the traditional herringbone pattern.

The well-curb created by Bartolomeo Bon between 1427 and 1428 depicts the virtues of Justice Fortitude and Charity. This well-curb had been sold and taken away; but it was purchased by baron Franchetti at the beginning of the XX century and returned to the palazzo.
