One star shining-Being 15

The only reason I was able to take this image of the eye-rolling daughter was if I promised to take some images with her phone that she could use for instagram at the same time. I thought this was a lovely picture of her but she looked at it and all she could see were her "faults" She is continuously exposed and bombarded with staged and manipulated images of how young women should look. It breaks my heart for all the young people that feel their self worth is tied up in meeting some sort of unrealistic expectation of what is normal or beautiful. She thinks I don't understand but I do. It was the same when I was growing up but instead of instagram it was Dolly magazine. I know I fall short of setting a good example.

She is my shining star (even when she's not :) ).
