Much of the coastline of Hawaii, particularly Oahu, reminded me of parts of the Australian Coast. One thing we have in common is the deceptiveness of the ocean.
The ocean along the coastline of Hawaii is treacherous, particularly in winter and many people get caught unaware and end up washed into the waters.
Rogue waves are common and I saw so many instances of people taking unnecessary risks to get the picture. I held my breath watching this pair as the waves rose up and crashed all around them, this one leaving them drenched but luckily still on top of the cliff.

This year the FFF+ have decided to change their monthly challenge from "Five On The Fifth" (FOTF) to “Freestyle on the Fifth”, so still a theme every month, and to be posted on the 5th of the month, but this year it does not have to be five images, it is up to the member to choose a single photo or a collage/composite of how ever many photos they like. The theme will still be set by a member of the group each month.
This month it was Lisa’s turn to choose the theme, and she chose “Glass”.
When the light caught the crest of the waves rolling in, I really thought the effect resembled glass so this is my offering for this months theme,

While photographing sunset one evening in Oahu, I met another photographer. We got chatting and she was so enthusiastic and happy to find another keen person to accompany her, she invited me on several sunrise/sunset shoots.
She was a firecracker! I wish I had half of her confidence to direct a scene and by- passers. I am hopeless and always stand back, never wanting to intrude or get in anyone else's way. I often miss the shot I really want because of this. Not so Miss Firecracker!
This shot was taken at China Walls where loads of young people hang out to watch sunset and engage in risky behaviors such as jumping off large rocks into the crazy big surf. College was out so alot of people were celebrating and this gorgeous young girl was wearing a special Island dress and headware. She was being photographed by her own photographer but Miss Firecracker soon commandeered her and had her posing for us. It was too dark to get a great shot but I think it works O.K with alittle creative artistry.
