Continuing on with my Crater Lake Circuit hike at Cradle Mountain....
Crater Lake was difficult to photograph as it was fringed by vegetation. This is the beautiful Mountainous expanse past Crater Lake with Lake Lilla (foreground) and in the background - the most famous Dove Lake nestled in the valleys. Dove Lake was our final destination on this hike. Wombat Pool is between the two but not seen from here. It was one of my favourite little spots.
This is a five frame panorama stitched in Lightroom. On this trip I finally remembered to take most of my panoramas in vertical format.

Dove Lake is often considered the Jewel in the Crown of Cradle Mountain and is one of its main attractions. It is a glacially carved lake situated directly beneath the towering spires of Cradle Mountain. Covered by fog in this image but I will upload another when for a brief time I had blue skies.
It provides a stunning photographic opportunities if you are there at the right time of day under the right conditions (which I wasn’t). The carpark for the Lake is currently closed for renovations so you can only travel as far as Ronny Creek and you have to travel by a visitor bus between the hours of 8 am-6 pm. An awe-inspiring place. The Dove Lake circuit walk takes you on a 6 km walk around the entire Lake.
I can't wait to return in August in winter, to hopefully see it covered in snow.

As promised here is Cradle Mountain on the following afternoon from yesterdays upload when the clouds cleared and you can see Cradle Mountain in the background.
Cradle Mountain is 1,545 metres above sea level and is the sixth-highest mountain in Tasmania.
"This must be a National Park for the people for all time." So declared Gustav Weindorfer from the summit of Cradle Mountain in 1910. It is now one of Australia's most famous national parks, protecting a grand glaciated landscape and the wonderful flora and fauna it contains.
"The jagged contours of Cradle Mountain frame the icy waters of Dove Lake – together forming a dramatic vista that can be enjoyed as you explore the shores of the lake on foot. The dolerite peak is one of the park's natural highlights, although the wild weather of the Tasmanian highlands often shrouds the mountain in cloud"
