Another view of the Corten steel bridge over the Craigieburn Bypass.

May give those who thought it looked like a boat some more context!

The bridge looked quite beautiful with the sun setting behind and lighting up parts of the rusting steel. I discovered this view point alittle late in the evening as the sun had already dipped below the horizon so definitely one to return to to try out a few more images.

Hopefully I will be back on track next week and will catch up with you all then. Hope all you Melbournians survive the cold artic blast that is supposed to arrive this afternoon.

Flicker x 100 2017 challenge. 22/100 Theme- Bob Dylan songs If Not For you

This song was released in 1970 on New Morning. He first recorded it in a session with George Harrison and Harrison also released the song shortly after on his All things must pass album. They performed the song together in rehearsals for the Concert for Bangladesh in New York in 1971, but not at the actual concert
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tctzUNMp5po

Our Livvy (Olivia Newton-John) made the song famous with a cover in 1971 and had the only US charting version of the song.

Unlike many of Dylan's songs, this is just a simple, beautiful love song. Dylan says he wrote it while thinking about his wife (Sara at the time) and it's about domesticity and gratitude. Another song that I perhaps dismissed in the early days and some may think abit cheesy (like my image) - until you hear the outtake from the 1970s recording which features only vocal, piano and gorgeous violin. It may change your mind about this song. You can find the version on The Bootleg Series Vol. 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969–1971). Hard to find on youtube.

This image was taken at sunset at Lake Tyrrell, north-west Victoria. I am with my "If not for you" man.
29 years next week, so this one is for you baby.

"If not for you, my sky would fall
Rain would gather, too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
I'd be lost, if not for you" Bob Dylan 1971

FFF+ Snap Happy is a group for FFF images that reflect positivity, happiness, joy and beauty only. Thanks Anne for the Blue theme for this week.

Once In a Blue Moon
I have been trying to use the challenges to teach myself new Photoshop skills as I have in mind images I would like to make in the future which would require more accomplished techniques than the rudimentary ones I have at the moment.

This image is made up of my own images, a night sky, the Supermoon, two lovebirds, a favourite old tree. I learnt how to make the love hearts from scratch. I know it isn’t that great (don’t look too closely) it is meant to be viewed as a whole. However, as soon as the Blue theme came up, I wanted to do something along the lines of Once in a Blue Moon. I didn’t have time to develop the story-line as much as I should have but, really, who cares. I am trying to learn not to care and just do.

For me it is about that great love that comes once in a Blue Moon. Lucky for many there is more than one Blue Moon in our lifetime.

T'was a few days before Christmas, when all through the land
not a breath of wind was stirring, not even Gods command
The stars were about to be hung in the sky,
in the hope that nightfall would not pass them by

The birds were all nestled, all snug for the night
Before the dawn of tomorrow would see them take flight
And I sat on the shore with my camera and crew
awaiting to see what the sunset would do

When out over the water I saw something fly,
not a bird, not a plane crossed the coloured sky
I peered through my camera to take in the view
So excited was I, that I forgot what to do

I recovered my senses and pressed down the shutter
as the lens gave a click, how did my heart flutter
While the grapefruit moon hung large in the sky
and reflected below in the water's glass eye

I still believe that Santa did appear
Crossing the sky with eight tiny reindeer
He passed a shooting star with no time for goodbye's
But I knew it was St Nic as a camera never lies.

A bit of silliness for the silly season!

......you think you really stuffed something up but it turns out ok in the end!

You are probably sick of seeing blue and red moon Eclipse images but given this miraculously turned out better than I thought, I had to post it!
It was quite cloudy early on and so I wasn't well prepared. I stood in my drive way, slippers and pjs and pretended I knew what I was doing. I underexposed which was good while moon still relatively full but forgot to put it back when the light of the moon was vanishing. My remote shutter didn't work on this camera and it was hard to keep it steady without some drift. Once the moon was red, it was hard to get a sharp image as the exposure time was too long, even at a couple of seconds to eliminate movement in the moon. The moon moves faster than you think (or is it us spinning on planet earth!).
There is another one mid-year so maybe I will be better prepared :)
