T'was a few days before Christmas, when all through the land
not a breath of wind was stirring, not even Gods command
The stars were about to be hung in the sky,
in the hope that nightfall would not pass them by
The birds were all nestled, all snug for the night
Before the dawn of tomorrow would see them take flight
And I sat on the shore with my camera and crew
awaiting to see what the sunset would do
When out over the water I saw something fly,
not a bird, not a plane crossed the coloured sky
I peered through my camera to take in the view
So excited was I, that I forgot what to do
I recovered my senses and pressed down the shutter
as the lens gave a click, how did my heart flutter
While the grapefruit moon hung large in the sky
and reflected below in the water's glass eye
I still believe that Santa did appear
Crossing the sky with eight tiny reindeer
He passed a shooting star with no time for goodbye's
But I knew it was St Nic as a camera never lies.
A bit of silliness for the silly season!

I think this Kangaroo represents what is pretty typical of an Aussie Christmas-laid back and relaxed in the warm summer sun. Even more typical would be a beer in his hand but I couldn't bring myself to do it :)
I am coming up to my second year on Flickr and it has meant a great deal to me. It has given me a reason to go out and try to make better photographs, provided inspiration and most importantly, allowed me to form friendships with people from across the globe.
To each and every one, thank you, and I wish you the very best of Christmas and lots of photographic adventures in the New Year.

This did not go to plan.
I wanted to make a lovely image of Harpo, sitting up in his most elegant poodle pose wearing reindeer ears. Yeah right. I could not even get a half second of obedience without him ripping the ears off, rolling around and eating them.
Ahh well. If nothing else, I hope this image brings you a smile on this Christmas after what has been a very challenging year.
To all my Flickr family (and you do feel like family) I want to thankyou for your kindness and support, encouragement, whit and wisdom and your willingness to always engage and share. That is what I love most about you all. Thanks for always being here even though I have not always been able to reciprocate as much as I’d like at times throughout the year.
I have given up on thinking about what surprises and challenges might be in store for the New Year but whatever may come, I know we will continue to be here for each other, sharing our images and stories and providing that connectedness that we all need.
Wishing you all the very best of health and happiness in whatever way you celebrate Christmas.
May you always be courageous, stand upright and be strong.
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
B.D.

We had a lovely evening in Melbourne town with my Flickr friends of many years over the weekend. Dinner at a Japanese Restaurant where Vegan options were many, followed by a wander around looking at Christmas lights. It was so busy, wall to wall people so hard to find a spot to be still and take photos. But then-that is Christmas isn't it!
Our iconic Flinders Street Station lit up beautifully this Christmas.
