Brazilian cowboys are called "pantaneiros" in the Pantanal region, while in other areas, they are often referred to as "vaqueiros" or "peões". The term "pantaneiro" is specific to the cowboys who work in the wetlands of the Pantanal, where they herd cattle using traditional methods adapted to the region's unique and challenging environment.
Three pantaneiros are guiding a herd of Nelore cattle that are known for their heat tolerance and resilience. These India-origin cattle thrive in Brazil’s tropical landscapes, making them ideal for beef production in the rugged terrain.
