The Monastery of Santa Maria de Poblet is a Cistercian monastery, founded in 1151 by Cistercian monks from France. The main architect was Arnau Bargués.
It was the royal pantheon of the kings of the Crown of Aragon since James I of Aragon.

The villa was created at Tibur (modern-day Tivoli) as a retreat from Rome for Roman Emperor Hadrian in the early 2nd century. Hadrian was said to dislike the palace on the Palatine Hill in Rome, leading to the construction of the retreat. During the later years of his reign, he actually governed the empire from the villa. The Church of Saint Demetrius, or Hagios Demetrios (Greek: Άγιος Δημήτριος), is the main sanctuary dedicated to Saint Demetrius, the patron saint of Thessaloniki, dating from a time when it was the second largest city of the Byzantine Empire.
