The concept of the “decisive moment” implies that the photographer must be able to anticipate an important moment within the constant flow of life, and capture it in a fraction of a second. Therefore, the key thing about the “decisive moment” is the ability to anticipate.
Ingedients:
Cartier-Bresson 1932 "man jumping over puddle", Saul Leiter 1959 "street scene", add one leaning Lodgepole pine, stir in some red and simmer 45 minutes.
Side note: seriously I would have never composed a photo with all that dark zone area if I didn't study Leiter's work...

My recent journey through the ABC's of photography is to "maintain a conscious awareness of space, and the articulation of natural space on my picture plane, while avoiding artistic inflection." : Stephen Shore
I also like the aspect of 'forest' here. - - Forest?
Is the tree indeed a lone tree? Or is it in a forest of verticality?
.... and that is how I tried to harness the space.
It was suggested that I print this in B&W, but I never considered it. Monochrome bleeds photos leaving an anemic abstraction of reality. Color brings natural, palpable depth of emotion and psychology.

Taken the day before the previous 'lone tree' photo when I was out for a therapeutic nature walk with my new (old) Olympus.
I prefer that previous shot because here I feel that I did not encompass any palpable 'space'. Kind of a point and shoot nature shot with minimal creativity....
have a great weekend....

It's quite amazing how an incidental puncture can change the visual narrative of a picture.
If I were not familiar with the work of Leiter I would have cropped off the bottom 1/4, lost that beautiful zone, and ruined the design of this image. And let me throw on an ingredient by William Klein; "clumsy is what I'm looking for."

Uncommon urban places
I guess all the color has fallen off the image and is lying in the floor. Leaving the upper portion of this picture in putty and gray pastels.
