50009 Conqueror had recently arrived at platform 3 with the 09.15 ex Waterloo. However, rather than taking a well-earned rest, a shortage of Network SouthEast locomotives at Exeter meant that it was immediately attached to the now late running 12.28 departure back to Waterloo from platform 1. In the meantime CCE pool 50046 Ajax prepares to propel the empty stock from platform 3 to the carridge sidings.
