Today a Colas Rail class 70 dropped onto the 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk loaded log train. Providing the power was 70804 as it slowly approaches a red signal at Euxton Balshaw Lane station were it was held for passing passenger trains which worked to my advantage as I could pop down the road to shoot it again from the footbridge.

I have been waiting for a 70 to drop on the tanks again for ages and this morning Colas Rail had rostered 70805 to take charge of 6M32 Lindsey to Preston loaded tanks. Not the best weather but the camera did well and here is 70805 about to pass through Lostock Hall station in the Preston area.

I have been looking forward to the 1Z25 Jorvik & Scarborough Spa Express ever since I heard about it so I just hope I have done the working and myself justice. Here is Colas Rails 70811 approaching Lostock Hall station in the Preston area with the 1Z25 Dumfries to Scarborough with West Coast Railway Company 47804 tucked behind for the ride. This is also the first time I have taken a photo at this location and as I was the only person here I hope to have captured something unique. I did go to Bamber Bridge first but decided to find somewhere else as the sun was in the wrong place for a photograph.

After Colas Rail 70811 powered the 1Z25 railtour this morning a change of loco saw 70805 doing the honours for the returning 1Z27 "The Jorvik & Scarborough Spa Express" from Scarborough to Dumfries. Despite the 1Z27 only scheduled to arrive at Preston at 22:00 I could not resist the temptation of seeing a Colas 70 on a passenger special once more. Booked to stop at Preston for 17 minutes it was an ideal time to learn the art of night time shots for the 1st time.

Colas Rail 70812 was a well utilised loco today. Firstly working a weekend engineers train back to Crewe Basford Hall from Bolton in the early hours. Then, by around 07:00, 70812 was making its way from Crewe Basford Hall to Carlisle running as 0C70 and was then placed on the 6J37 Carlisle to Chirk log train which has not run for a week or so. After much deliberation I decided on this shot from the most northerly footbridge in Euxton.
