The Na Pali Coast on the northwest side of Kaua'i was probably the most incredible experience we had during our recent trip to Hawai'i. These intimidating cliffs tower upwards of 4,000 feet. For comparison, the mast of the catamaran in the middle of the frame is roughly 70-90 feet tall. Unfortunately, this photo will never do justice compared to seeing this in person, but I hope you still enjoy it.

My wife and I did a catamaran sunset cruise which is the cheaper way to see the Na Pali coast vs a helicopter tour. The catamaran was nice because we got to take our time and enjoy the view, but being that its winter the conditions were pretty rough at times which made everything difficult including taking photos.

I knew I wanted to do the best I could to show these cliffs and I knew a single photo with a wide lens would do the opposite. I threw on my 70-200 and started shooting this handheld. At one point as I'm trying to hang on to the boat and shoot this, I leaned over and told my wife "this is never going to stitch together". Obviously, I was wrong.
