Former Riegele brewery headquarters on Königsplatz in Augsburg, built in 1911 by architect Hans Schnell in the Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque style. On the left is the Annastraße with the tower of the Annakirche in the background, on the right begins the Bürgermeiser-Fischer-Straße. Both streets are shopping streets and pedestrian zones in the center of Augsburg.

Historic suburb with the namesake church of St. Jakob on the right. In the background you can see Augsburg's town hall, which, like the entire city center, is located on a high plateau to which very steep alleys and streets ascend (not visible in this photo, see attached photo below).

Already in the Middle Ages, this lower-lying suburb was predominantly inhabited by the lower social class of the imperial city of Augsburg, while the upper class lived in the upper parts of the city, so that sociotopography and geography were, so to speak, congruent.

Today, as in most working-class neighborhoods, a particularly large number of foreigners live here, especially Turks and people from the former Yugoslavia.
