A couple of decades back the railfan hobby in Sydney had 'ÉT Tours' which was run by the late Bruce Cook.
Bruce had a way of organising tours unlike any before and definitely unlike anything in the future. He could talk the railways into allthe safety police to molly owing him to take trains to some very unusual places.
This tour was no different.
This image was taken on the Illawarra line at Metropolitan Colliery Junction.
It was the only time this wide body single deck stock would ever visit there and special arrangements had to be made to ensure no other train crossed it due to clearance problems.
The train arrived, everyone piled out onto the tracks (egad - no safety vests and we all survived), took our shots, piled back on the train and headed north.
Oh yes, we lived dangerously back then youngun railfans. We did not have the safety police to mollycoddle us then.
