New wooden sculpture, woodland walk, Blackpool. N.S. Friday 20 September 2013

During the summer of 2013 a new wooden sculpture was installed near an entrance to the woodland walk and community orchard part of which passes Higher Moor farm.

This woodland walk is on a part of land belonging to the large farm. Originally part of the farm was planted with fruit trees as a source of food for the farmer and his family. In recent years restoration of the fruit trees has taken place and planting of new local fruit varieties have been added. Fruits found here include Apple, blueberry, elder, pear, plum, raspberry and redcurrant.

The walk links the Bispham and Warbreck areas of Blackpool with Carleton. It also includes a bridle track across a field containing horses and two ponds. The Blackpool to Preston railway line is also nearby and a bridge over the railway forms part of the route. The bridge is to be rebuilt during 2014 as part of the electrification work of the Manchester to Blackpool North railway line.
