A-452 passes through a classic cut & fill alignment in the hills surrounding Avlon, north of Athens.
I spent the afternoon on New Year's Day 1998 to photograph train 602 to Thessaloniki. I used the other train activity of IC DMU sets and GE-powered locals to eventually find the right spot hiking in the low January sun. The abundant scent of wild herbs in the hills is unforgettable.
