A-468 is fiercely lifting train 502 to Thessaloniki out of the Athens basin. It's a height difference of about 300 m to the first summit of the mainline near Sfendali and the MLW MX627 kicks some dust thundering through Acharnai on the outskirts of the metropolitan area of Athens.
The station dog is enjoying the heat of the action, train 502 has already gained 120 m of elevation since departure from Athens some 15 minutes ago. That's mountain railroading right from the beginning.
