A long, long time ago, before digital photography made the trading of images quick and easy, many photographers traded or sold slides to one another via the US Postal Service or at model train shows and swap meets. Doug was no exception, and his slide collection is peppered with color slides of trains from locations across the United States, far from where he lived.
This wonderful image captures first generation Soo Line power leading a colorful mix of freight cars through Rugby Junction, near the unincorporated town of Polk in Washington County, Wisconsin. The slide mount is marked April 6, 1976, and the original photographer's name is not listed.
