Jasper may be approaching 14, but that play drive is still there. This was a challenge to see if I can get to Daisy Duck before he did. I didn't stand a chance!

This is a male Anna's hummingbird that I photographed this morning. Such DRAMA in our yard! There was a male at one of the feeders and female just flew up to him and slapped him with her wing, squeaking, "Off my feeder, jerk-o!" Another time I saw a couple hummingbirds approach the feeder at the same time and come to fisticuffs in front of the feeder. I could literally hear their little wings making contact with the other bird as they circled each other, spiraling upward like some kind of hummingbird vortex. It's a pretty intense life they lead, especially now during breading season when the females need to build the nest, lay the eggs and raise the young with no help at all from the male.
