What do you need more? Two seats in front and lots of space in the back, as well as a simple drivetrain and a soft suspension. Bakers, farmers, craftspeople, musicians loved the Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette, the little wagon, which gave them just enough space for their equipment and produce. Moreover, the despite the box still rather narrow car let them drive it through the traffic and into the smallest lanes into old town’s market squares or wherevere else they needed to get their stuff. The Fourgonnette was also turned into a camper by many who could not or did not want to afford a van.
Groupe PSA are aware of their heritage, and as I was playing around making a plastic version of the classic 2CV Fourgonnette, they were making a remake based on their Berlingo. Also in large parts from plastic. Well, … make up your own mind. I’m just not happy about that an internet search for Fourgonnette pictures shows the retro remake first, instead of the classic 2CV. But maybe that’s just me …
I have MOCced a bricked Citroen 2CV before – in a Charleston color scheme because of the critical mudguard element, which had been available by TLG only in black and a few special colors then. Now, I got my hands on grey ones, and they seemed perfect for a Fourgonnette in its classic color. The cab is 5 studs wide, the box 6. The idea of using the butcher’s knives as mudflaps or mudguard extensions was adapted from legomanijak’s beautiful 4-wide 2CV. The book covers as windscreens were inspired by Mr. Cup of Fail. Otherwise, there are lots of clips, SNOT bricks, brackets, wedges, slopes as well as 1x2 jumper plates in use. The latter were installed upside down to get a bit of a fluting effect on the box. In a WIP manner, I improved the front bumper without the middle clip plate, creating a bit of an anglish look, and added a new photo.
