Le Tour de France has just started again, and I thought I'd make a bricked tribute to the legendary and infamous bicycle race. It's the team car of the 1970s Peugeot cycling teams, a 504 with roof and trunk racks for spare wheels and bicycles. The Peugeot company's marketing of both its cars and bikes at the Tour, made me think of the history of mobility engineering, which I read about in a book by Carlton Reid called "Roads Were not Built for Cars", but bikes. It outlines how many companies first made bikes and then turned to motorcycles and cars. Maybe the Peugeot 504 cycling team car was one of the last icons of this once universal industry of mobility ...
Regarding the MOC: The front lights are slightly twisted to get the car's typical look, the rear lights were easily made with the rounded tiles. Hood and trunk are mounted on hinges and slightly sloped. The rear axle is mounted slightly higher to get the car's typical front leaning appearance. The C column is an adaption from László Torma's Skoda 105, see here www.flickr.com/photos/169693688@N03/51719494411/in/photol...
