Plainview by definition is punctuated with Amtrak 6 rolling along at its usual pace through the S turns in front of Tunnel 1 while down on the Front Range all the various subdivisions have high wind warnings in effect due to severe weather. Hail and high precipitation cells are marching along from Brighton to Greeley. Only 30 minutes earlier Plainview was in a torrent of rain and small hail, lightning among other fun things were making for a wet and slow hike. Now for an instant the warm sun bakes the ground into a steam, another 15 minutes clouds filled the skies again. Extraordinary high altitude weather is part of the drama on the Moffat Subdivision.

I was reminded by the early peak of the leaves at East Portal browsing through one of my many hard drives and spotted this one from October 2015. A much later more typical Fall on the Moffat Subdivision a bit later past the peak with some bare Aspen however a myriad of colors and some clouds in the mix.
